Homotoxicology originated in 1955 from the intuition of a young German doctor, Dr. H.H. Reckeweg. It is a well codified therapeutic system associated with homeopathy, since it constitutes homeopathy’s natural evolution. In fact, homotoxicological medicine utilizes remedies prepared according to Hahnemannian concepts of pure experimentation on healthy humans, of vital energy, of similarity of symptoms, of infinitesimal doses, but at the same time, it serves as a bridge to conventional medicine. In systematizing the theory that is the basis of his innovative therapeutic approach, Dr. Reckeweg took into consideration all the minute biochemical and molecular mechanisms that regulate cellular responses and held a biological view, more than a spiritual one, of the healing process.
Reckeweg attempted to explain the reasons for diseases by attentively considering the problem of toxins and of immune system stimulus. According to his concept, “diseases are expressions of the battle of the organism against toxins, in its attempt to counteract and expel them; they are the expressions of the battle that the organism wages naturally to make up for the damage caused by toxins.
Symptomology, the expression of struggle and purification, follows the activation of what became defined as the Greater Defense System, emphasizing its protective action against foreign substances.
The exceedingly important Greater Defense System is composed of: the reticuloendothelial system; adenohypophyseal-suprarenal-cortex defensive subsystem; neural reflex system; detoxification in the liver; connective tissue detoxification function.
When a foreign substance (homotoxin) comes into contact with the body, the defense is activated, setting in motion a chain reaction which aims to eliminate the specific toxin.
It is not the symptomology (disease) that must be destroyed (defense mechanism), but the toxic substances that evoke it (offense mechanism).

The usefulness of a treatment that stimulates the body’s defense mechanisms in order to eliminate not the symptomology (which will disappear naturally at the completion of the defensive reaction), but the toxic substances that have triggered it, is thus emphasized. Homotoxicological drugs stimulate the patient’s ability to self-heal through the restoration of his metabolic, enzymatic and immunological capacities. They activate excretory functions and allow the elimination of the toxic load responsible for the disease.
Starting from a homeopathic model, homotoxicology has formulated a new and well-articulated pharmacological proposal, introducing easily prescribed drugs the combinations of which become effective in significant clinical situations.

For every pathology there exist several homotoxicological solutions which permit the development of individualized treatment strategies.

We have:
• generalized stimulus drugs;
• phase drugs, relating to the phase of the disease;
• functional or organ drugs which finish off or complete a treatment strategy supporting the tissual structure.

Each homotoxicological remedy can be conveniently defined as a synergic drug: it acts on a horizontal level (usually it is composed of several remedies with a common affinity) and a vertical level (for the simultaneous presence of various homeopathic dilutions of the remedies).
In summary, homotoxicology aids in the activation of the Greater Defense System against toxic substances and as it restores the normal metabolic and cellular functions, supports the body during the entire elimination process.

“All the processes, conditions and phenomena that we describe as diseases are the manifestations of the body’s battle with poisons, or homotoxins.”

Hans-Heinrich Reckeweg

Training and Personal Experience

My training in Homotoxicology began approximately twenty years ago following a “crisis” of therapeutic powerlessness while dealing with several auto-immune pathologies:  classic homeopathy had revealed itself to be insufficient, whereas my patients subsequently benefitted from a homotoxicological treatment.
I consequently expanded my knowledge of the methodology and I was pleased with the results, even from the initial applications.  The use of  correct drainage of the nosodes (biotherapic in homeopathic dilutions) and of organotherapics allowed me to tackle even critical pathological situations with excellent results and without side effects.  My previous training in Constitutional Homeopathy was well matched to my use of the 6 Phase Table since the different treatment strategies find a scientific basis in the physiopathology of the biotype.
Through the years I developed a personal methodology, based on classic homeopathic interrogation, clinical examinations of the patient, an overall view of instrumental and laboratory information and the production of an “integrated” treatment.  On a case by case basis, I utilize homotoxicological and homeopathic remedies, even with high dilutions, according to the level of treatment intervention that I decide.  My deep understanding of my profession has aided me in the selection of medications, in evaluating the best intervention procedures and times for each patient and also in identifying the best nutritional support strategy.
I possess a diploma in Homotoxicology and Integrated Medicine and since 2003 I have been an International Expert Speaker on Homotoxicology.  For years, both in Italy and abroad, I have been teaching this integrated perspective of homeopathic and homotoxicological medicine that can be correctly defined as Physiological Regulatory Medicine.
